If you're under 20, a minimum training period of 12 months applies from the date your learner's permit is issued. This rule doesn't apply if you obtained a Category B learner's permit before December 31, 2020. Transitional law: If you turn 18 in 2021 and acquire a Category B learner's permit this year, you'll be admitted to the practical driving test from your 18th birthday, even if you haven't held the learner's permit for a full year yet.

To obtain the permanent driving licence, you must attend 1 further training course within the first 12 months. After the probationary period expires, your definitive driving licence will be sent directly to you by the road traffic office of your canton of residence.

For the driving test, you must wear motorcycle-specific safety equipment (helmet, clothing, gloves, boots).
